Job Description:
System One is hiring a Plant Integration Engineer to support our
customer in Wilmington NC for a 6-month contract.

The GEH Resident Engineer will provide regular in-person oversight
and support for the Natrium project design work carried out by
General Electric-Hitachi out of their Wilmington, NC offices. The
resident engineer will report to the Manager of Systems Integration
as part of the Natrium Reactor Systems group and will support and
coordinate cross functional and multi-disciplinary design
activities.
The ideal candidate will be located at GEH's Wilmington office to
allow continuous in-person support and collaboration between GEH's
System, Component, Analysis, and Testing Teams and engineering and
oversight teams.
Candidate would travel periodically to meet with Natrium managers
and stakeholders.
The Resident Engineer will coordinate scope, schedule, and
technical integration for system design, 3D model and drawing
development, and multi-disciplinary integration between mechanical,
electrical, I&C, and Civil/Structural. Engineer will also
support cross functional collaboration with licensing, safety
analysis, and PRA.
Responsibilities Provides continuous oversight and direction of
GEH's scope of work for the Natrium plant. This includes system and
component design, system and component analysis, and integrated
plant analyses (such as safety analysis and PRA)..
Direct communication between GEH to facilitate continued
progression of active design activities.
Review key project issue priorities and conduct periodical meeting
with Plant Delivery department managers and key stakeholders on
issues, technical challenges, and track resolution to GEH. Conduct
similar issue resolution meetings with GEH leadership.
Recommend resolutions to technical and quality challenges
originating from GEH activities, and conduct follow up reviews to
ensure resolutions are effective and satisfactorily completed.
Identify challenges or barriers from stakeholder and/or GEH and
resolve issues using establishes processes and practices. Where
resolution is not readily achievable, identify and escalate with
Natrium project leadership.
Facilitate regular and organized communication with GEH
stakeholders and management, including identification, planning,
targeted resolution forums (such as digital meetings, working
groups, decision management) and in-person meetings.
Clarify and resolve scope and schedule issues Project Manager.
Interface with GEH project management personnel on issues related
to schedule, budget, or other project management functions, as
needed.
Perform periodic surveillance of in progress work products, observe
and report on GEH work practices related to Natrium engineering and
project activities (for example, procedure use and adherence,
design strategies, licensing commitment conformance, etc.), and
facilitate resolution between GEH on technical issues.
Key Qualifications and Skills Candidate should have a minimum of 10
years of design/project engineering experience, preferably in the
nuclear industry or large utility grade projects.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the
ability to clearly convey complex multi-disciplinary engineering
issues and drive resolution between many stakeholders in a timely
manner
Experience as a design engineer working in a nuclear quality (10
CFR 50, Appendix B) environment.
Reside within commuting distance of Wilmington, NC or have the
ability to travel frequently to Wilmington to support in-person
collaboration and oversight with GEH
Ability to occasionally travel to Bellevue, WA to meet with
managers and stakeholders.
Possess a firm understanding of systems and requirements-based
design, Licensing Modernization Project methods, and 10CFR50
licensing.
Experience with coordination and integration of nuclear plant
design, including licensing, PRA, SSC classification and design,
etc.
The candidate must be team oriented, and able to work effectively
with geographically distributed and possibly international design
team members.
Ability to work in a conceptual design and first of a kind
environment that require the ability to use good engineering
judgement and identify needed design progress to achieve key
project objectives.
Experience working to quality standards on design activities, such
as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001.
